Our Story  Our Mission

Hello! We are a husband and wife couple with three grown children and we are now entering the Empty Nest Phase of life. It is quite more challenging than we ever expected! This site should be a helpful tool for our children now that they are out on their own and are learning to cook so that they can maintain the healthy lifestyle that they have come to know.

I became interested in health in 1992, just weeks before I found out I was pregnant with our first child. Funny how God prepares our bodies and minds for what is to come! I read a book of my mom's called Fit For Life by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond while on Spring Break with my girlfriends. While they were all watching T.V., I had my nose in a book, as usual. In that book there were so many things that went directly against the grain of what society teaches us about food and health. I was very intrigued and began to put some of the most basic common sense stuff to practice. The rest would come much later.

Around 2005 we began seeing a nutritionist because my oldest son had ADHD and we wanted to get him off the medication. Not wanting to go through the trouble of preparing two separate meals every night, I cooked one meal for all of us, the way the nutritionist told me to do for my son. This included cutting out meat a couple of nights a week, cutting out all sugar and refined foods such as white pasta and white rice. I already had always purchased the "brown bread" at the store, but now I also looked for the brown rice and whole wheat pasta. Soon we were eating only chicken, turkey, salmon, and tilapia. No red meat at all.

Then in 2010, my daughter at the age of 13, went completely vegetarian on her own. Two years later at 15, she ate only raw food for two months during the Summer and cured her acne leaving her with beautiful skin. At that time in August 2012, we all began to eat vegetarian when I decided to try Robyn Openshaw's, known as Green Smoothie Girl, 8 Week Menu Plan, which is all vegetarian. We enjoyed it so much that we went a second 8 weeks, and then a third, tweaking it a little and trying new things. Eight months after that we went vegan, taking out dairy as well.

It is my hope that this site will be a place of information for you to gain knowledge through our experiences and research that I have done for over almost three decades now. If you have any comments or questions, feel free to reach out. I want to see others get well and I'm here to help!
